Teenager

Teenager
When did we cross the line
From pure to evil
Sins turning into
A vile fever

Contagious
Broken
Angered words that come across

Hollow,
Meaningless
We always feel lost

When did we forget
The beauty other words
Have to emboss
On a soul
On a mind
“Connected
Uplifting”
These words are tossed

From a place of ignorance
Where pain was never intentional
Turning into knowledge
Where hate is seen to be commendable

Conflict
Hurt family
As we forget childhood manners-
Pain we inflict
Flowing
Like it’s all that matters

We all have tactics
We all shy away
Faking a smile
A glare coming your way

When did our heart become so torn
Where we would rather have a touch

Even if cold

Than warm hands
Guiding us
Embracing us
As warmth bleeds on

Touching a soul
Underneath its coffin-
To give it a name

Of more than the lonely ghost

You see today

The Run

The Run
Don’t show your emotions
Don’t say he is your all
Don’t let him know how true they are

Don’t show humanity
No care
No love

Or else it will fly away
Like a dove

He needs to be excited
With the adventure
Not you

To obtain something
A “run”
An essence so cruel

But don’t they realize it is merely a chase
And in cold nights nothing a heart can embrace

No fulfillment
No love,
Meaningless acts
To fill the voids

Because it is just humanity
Yet again he avoids

Family

Family

You are like a beautiful warmth
A beautiful glow
Orange and promising
Hovering us with your gold

Cascading at an angel
From our window to the floor
Shining on the table
Heartbeats never ignored

A promise
A comfort
Through arguments that soar

That even when rains come over
You are opened like a door

Always there
 Holding the day,
Keeping me away
From our thunderstorm

You became my family;
A warm little glow
And the smallest of conversations
We share

Make me feel whole

Gratitude

Gratitude (cedar publish)

I find pain to talk about my happiness
Because I feel it hasn’t been obtained

Like I over appreciate things
When I do not care

I don’t love
Or even like
The small things that come my way

Gratitude for what I have
Rests at bay

But I have so much to be grateful for,
I just don’t let these emotions poor

So much to smile about,
But I never let people know

It is as if I am waiting
To make a mistake
So that beauty is taken away,
And I feel life from within

But how can I?

Even though, gratitude feels like a forced smile sometimes
I understand to not be grateful,
Is like a crime

Not always easy
But better than undermining moments,
And underappreciating
The days

And the way
They hold us

I Hope

I Hope

I hope when you read this
You smile
A frown you’ve called your own
Leaves for a while

Because you're happy

I hope whenever you're feeling down
There’s a glimmer of hope still shining
Out loud

When you listen

A hobby,
A person,
A memory,
That makes you feel at home

That even when life hurts you
And throws it’s stones
Making you drown,
And breaking your bones

You feel grounded

Because no one deserves to feel down
No matter
What people say
Out loud

No matter if you have wronged,
You will find happiness,

The power that
Fuels you into making  amends

To show the world
A piece it has been missing for so long

How to be strong

Materialistic

Materialistic

Success,
A feeling I long to taste
But not to savor

To obtain it for the thrill
And not its flavor

Because we are competing
Fighting
Making life so interesting
As we keep thriving-

Fighting for a job
A title,
A dollar bill

Which means so little
As we leave earth-
Never feeling fulfilled

As your job
Your title
Your dollar bill
Won’t let you cross...

Life’s biggest hill

Life

Life
Live life to feel all you're meant to feel
To experience the world
In which you dwell

No matter what

A price couldn’t
Let you sell

Live life to meet people,
That will mean so much,
Hurt you so much

But give much more

Conceive the world
Breed the world
Change the world
And raise as if your own

But even with
Best intentions to learn
Experience
Meet
And taste the world

It will dissipate
All in a second
So, what is the meaning...

Of living in this world?

Loyalty

Loyalty

Hold on
Don’t run-
There’ll always be someone else shining ...
But not the sun

Can we count on the person
To not look;
To not be tempted by others’ cruel allure

Can loyalty grasp their heart,
More than an image
That will never last?

Nothing is perfect...
Like the first week’s spark
Sparks will dissolve,
But remnants of love will not

Can that hold us through the dark?
Where roots are to the soil,
And ever
Is for us

A Never Ending Cycle

 A Never-Ending Cycle

A never-ending cycle;
“Move on if it hurts,”
They say

But doesn’t everything we love
Give us dismay

So must we give up
The beautiful rose
For the thorns
That prick skin...
But never our bones?

When it’s home

Built from tears and sweat
To forge a future path
 And road

Or is life a never-ending cycle
Of moving on?

Where hearts break,
heal,

and simply go on?

Parents

Parents

You take care of us
Not thinking twice
Showering us with
Unconditional love
At no price

You love with all your heart
And so does the child
Until days turn to years
And so do your fears

The children become distant
And forgetful
They find love in the
Wrong places

Trying to fill a void
And replace you...

You poured your soul
Your blood
And time

And they just leave

Distance filling the gaps
As they try to create a new life

To my parents-
If I ever made you feel this way,
Or made you question
Whether I love you

Please know
You are my favorite people

And with each  new day

Is a promise to never hurt you
