SomeBody(poem)

SomeBody

When you say “body”,
I wish our minds didn’t drift right down
To what our consciousness does when the lights go out

A heart,
A soul,
A place we can call home.
A casket holding
And never letting go

A product of parents,
Raised with unconditional love,
And their sacrifices of everything
Bringing us to where we are.

Caring for us when sick
Being there from start to finish
They cared for our body
And the life within it.

Your body is not just curves
 It’s scars
It’s care
It’s a life

Please be aware...

Our parents did not bring our body into this world,
To be used and opened,
To be discarded

As if broken
